7 Things We All do in Class That You Shouldn't Feel Embarrassed about ...

By Sabrina

Many of the things you feel mortified about after school are actually things we all do in class, that you don’t need to feel embarrassed about. Sometimes, you may feel like all eyes are on you, and wish that you could just disappear! But these things we all do in class are nothing to be ashamed of, and can be easily dealt with.

Leaving for Lady Troubles

Leaving for lady troubles is one of the things we all do in class. Mother Nature has a way of sneaking up on you, so she can often take you by surprise! A day may come when you have to leave class and rush to the ladies’ room. While it seems like this is the end of the world, that simply isn’t the case. It’s completely normal to start your period at school and it’s bound to happen to every girl at least once. Knowing that you’re not alone in this situation should help ease your mind, but it also always helps to be prepared! So make sure you never leave home without pads or tampons in your school bag.

2

Asking “too Many” Questions

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve been extremely curious. I question everything until I can understand it, and it may get on my classmates’ nerves sometimes. But I know that it’s only natural to be curious about an interesting subject, and that at one point in most people’s lives they’ve been the one to raise their hand every five seconds. So I've stopped feeling guilty and embarrassed about being so inquisitive in class. And if you're anything like me, you should too! Plus, asking question gives you a much better understanding of the subject and shows your teacher that you're a star student!

3

Feeling Confused

Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses, and at some point in your high school experience you may find yourself in a class that’s pretty challenging for you. Every word your teacher says may sound like it’s an entirely different language! Feeling confused in difficult classes is completely normal, so you shouldn’t be embarrassed. You should feel comfortable asking the people around you or your teacher for clarification on a hazy topic, because odds are they’ve all been in your shoes before.

4

Failing a Test

In school, there’s no worse feeling then watching a test land on your desk with an enormous, red “F” circled at the top. The letter seems to be mocking you, and you assume that everyone around you is mocking you too. But really, everyone is too concerned about their own grade to make fun of you! Plus, almost everyone has failed a test before, and experienced that same sinking feeling. No one wants to make you feel worse than you already feel, so instead of worrying about possible embarrassment, start studying for the next test right away!

5

Getting Put on the Spot

We’ve all had that one seemingly cruel teacher who loves to put students on the spot. When you know you’ve been zoning out and your teacher calls on you to answer a question, it’s natural to blush and feel embarrassed. But everyone has been there before, and no one will think you’re “stupid” if you don’t know the answer. So the best thing to do in a situation like that is simply confess that you were daydreaming, and live with the consequences your teacher has for you.

Laughing Uncontrollably

It doesn’t seem like a huge deal, but I’ve often found myself laughing uncontrollably in class! Everything is funnier when you’re supposed to be quiet, isn’t it? When your friend whispers an inside joke during a lecture, you may burst out laughing and find it difficult to stop. Laughing uncontrollably will definitely turn heads, but other than the teacher, most people in the room won’t be upset with you for momentarily losing focus. Just try to calm down and return your attention to your teacher’s lecture as quickly as possible.

7

Calling Your Teacher Mom

You ask your mom so many questions at home that in class, when you’re trying to get your teacher’s attention, sometimes "mom" accidentally slips out instead of Mr. or Mrs. While the people around you may giggle, you should feel comfortable enough to laugh right alongside them! You’ll always feel less embarrassed when people are laughing with you, not at you. So try not to make a big deal out of it; just have a laugh and move on.

It’s easy to get embarrassed in class, when everyone seems to be starving for drama. But many of the things you frequently feel embarrassed about are situations everyone has faced before. What are some embarrassing situations you often find yourself in during school? How do you deal with them?
