1. Do NOT PROCRASTINATE!

Always study in little chunks of time every single day. Spend at least a half an hour reviewing flash cards and key terms. If you are taking honors or AP classes, try to spend, at the very minimum, one hour each day. Never study everything the day before a test! It will hurt you in the long run!

2. REMEMBER to TAKE NOTES

Try to take notes based off of what your teacher says. This will be more helpful, especially if you are an auditory learner, than copying off a PowerPoint slide.

Frequently asked questions

3. USE EXTRA CREDIT

Try to take advantage of extra credit opportunities your teachers offer. Do test corrections whenever possible, if your teacher allows them.

4. DON'T TRY TOO HARD

Don't try so hard making friends. Remember you have school to focus on. By trying too hard, people might see you as desperate or needy and may not want to be your friend. It's okay to not have a lot of friends. It's just high school.

5. IGNORE the MEAN GIRLS

In high school, there are some mean girls. It is hard to ignore these girls when they are mean to you, but you can choose to cut them off and you can choose to focus on school. Don't let them win. Think of how successful you will be if you don't let them bring you down.

6. TRY MEDITATION/YOGA

Try practicing meditation and chanting for at least 5-10 minutes a day. I recommend 20 minutes each day to achieve emotional healing and spiritual healing. Try yoga poses like warrior 1, warrior 2, figure 4, puppy dog pose, and pigeon pose. These poses are beneficial for those suffering with anxiety and depression. Yoga, chanting, praying, and mediation are all great ways to heal emotionally and spiritually. This can especially useful if you are getting bullied or if you have a lot of stress going on in school.

7. TRY EXERCISING REGULARLY

Having daily workouts is great for your body and your mind. Walking is really beneficial for depression. Weight training helps improve self confidence. Group sports can help with loneliness.

8. SPEAK IT out

Try telling a trusted adult or a counselor about your problems. This will help you release your emotions and relieve your anxiety.

9. SEE a PSYCHIATRIST

If you are not feeling well and you are showing symptoms of any type of mental disorder, ask your parents if you can see a psychiatrist. Some of the medications for depression and bipolar disorder can cause strong side effects, but can help alleviate painful symptoms you might be experiencing.

10. Do NOT FOCUS on BOYS 100%

Sure, it's nice to think about a cute guy, but don't trust these feelings until your brain is capable of knowing what is right and what is wrong. Do not starve yourself for a boy. Don't try so hard for boys. You will regret it by the time you graduate.

11. CRUSH WISELY

This is a typical time for most teenage girls to develop their most intense crushes. Do not get so caught up in your daydreams though. Try to talk to him. Ask him for help. Give him a subtle compliment. Tell him he looks nice if he dressed up that day. Tell him you like him within 6 months if he seems like a nice guy. If it doesn't work out, drop it and move on.

12. BE CAREFUL with WHO YOU TRUST

Don't tell people about your personal problems or health issues blindly. Be really careful when speaking with other people. Avoid making negative comments about a particular place or region of the country. Don't talk badly about your family members to other people. Keep family and health issues privately.

By using these tips all of you girls entering high school will be successful, happy, and healthy! I wish you all the best, loves!
