7 Reasons It's Better You Didn't Get into Your Dream School ...

By Teresa3 Comments

It’s that awful time of year where every high school senior is worrying that maybe you didn’t get into your dream school. Maybe you don’t know yet, or maybe you’ve already been rejected. If you’re one of the latter, don’t worry. You will find out where you’re supposed to be, and you’ll figure out why it happened. However, these realizations happen with time. Eventually, you will be at peace with the fact that you didn’t get into your dream school, but until then, maybe this reasoning will help you out a little bit.

1 It Wasn’t Meant to Be

If you didn’t get into your dream school, obviously it wasn’t meant to be. You weren’t supposed to go to that school. You might not see it as positive right now, but when you’re where you’re supposed to be, you will understand why you weren’t destined to go to that school. It will all make sense with time. Obviously something wasn’t right for you in the situation, whether it was the school, the city, or the people you would’ve met. It’s definitely something to be thankful for, even if it doesn’t seem like it.

Frequently asked questions

2 Something Better Will Happen

Something better will come of this “rejection.” Maybe you’ll love the other school you choose so much more, or maybe you’ll find a job or city that you’ll fall in love with. You could even meet the best friend of your life at a school you wouldn’t have considered had you not been rejected from your dream school. Better things will come.

3 You Were Meant to Follow Another Path

No matter what you decide in the end, whether you decide to go to a different school or straight into the workforce, obviously you were meant to follow a different path. That’s not necessarily a bad thing. Everyone follows different paths in life. Just because you’re not going to an Ivy League School does not mean that you won’t be successful in life. It just means you’re following a different path to find that success.

4 The Lowest of Lows Come before the Highest of Highs

When you’re experiencing the lowest of lows, it’s hard to believe this, but I firmly believe that the highs come after the lows. This may seem like a bundle of clichés, but there’s always something better ahead of you. It may seem horrible right now, but something good will come of it.

5 Everything Happens for a Reason

It’s the cliché of all clichés, but everything does happen for a reason. So many things happen in our lives that wouldn’t have happened had some chance decision not come our way, like being rejected from our dream school. There’s obviously a reason that this happened, and even if you can’t find it right now, one day you will look back and understand just why this happened. You will realize that so many wonderful things that have happened in your life wouldn’t have happened had you not been rejected from your dream school.

6 You May save Some Money

On an even more positive note, you will probably save money if your dream school rejects you. Maybe your dream school was out-of-state, and now you’re going to an in-state school. That will save you a fortune. Maybe you’ll decide to go to a community college, which will also save you a fortune. No matter what path you decide to take, you will probably save a lot of money.

7 If They Didn’t Want You, They Weren’t Right for You

When it comes down to it, if they didn’t want you at their school, you definitely do not want to go there. A school that rejects you is a lot like a guy that rejects you. If they don’t want you, they don’t deserve for you to spend even a second of your time wishing that they did. You’re too good for that.

Were you rejected by your dream school? What advice would you give to girls going through the same experience right now?
