How to BS an Essay and Still Pass with an a on the Assignment ...

By Holly

If you're a full-time student and a part-time worker who's trying to balance a social life, then it's difficult to find the time to work on all of your assignments. Even though it's a horrible idea to wait until the last second to write an essay, sometimes it ends up happening. If you're stuck in a sticky situation where you have to get your work done in a jiffy, here are a few ways to BS an essay and still get an A:

1

Check Spark Notes

Hopefully you've actually read the book you're supposed to be writing an essay on. Of course, it's easy to forget the little details, which is why sparknotes.com should be your new best friend. All you have to do is type in the book that you want details on, and the site will give you a summary of each chapter. It's a great way to brush up on your facts.

2

Read an Expert's Opinion

Some essays require you to cite sources. Instead of coming up with your own opinion about a book and then looking up sources for it, you can look up sources, read what the experts have to say about the story, and then create your topic from there. It's a quick way to come up with a thesis. Just don't steal their ideas outright.

3

Treat It like You're Taking a Test

When you write an essay during a test in class, you can't look through books for facts. You have to write about a topic that centers around the stuff you actually know, so you actually have things to say. You should do the same when creating an essay at home. If you write about something you already know, then you won't have to waste time doing research on the subject.

4

Don't Be Too Repetitive

You won't get an A on a 10-page essay if you say the same exact things on every page. Even if you reword your ideas, your teacher will realize you aren't saying anything new. If you don't have too many things to talk about, then make sure you go into detail on every little thing you mention without repeating yourself over and over again.

5

Use the Correct Formatting and Grammar

Your grade is going to suffer if you format your essay incorrectly or make silly grammatical mistakes. That's why you shouldn't waste all of your time worrying about the facts included in your essay. The way it looks is just as important.

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Hand It in on Time

Teachers love to receive work on the day that they asked for it. Even if your essay is perfect, you'll get points off if you hand it in late. That's why you should always hand in your work on the day that it's due.

7

Use Block Quotes

If your teacher wants you to add quotes in your essay, then you should toss in a few block quotes. It's a quick and easy way to fill up blank pages without actually saying anything in your own words. Just make sure to cite those quotes, so that you don't get accused of plagiarism.

You should always put in as much effort as you can on all of your assignments. Of course, if you only have a few hours to finish an essay, these tips should come in handy. Are you good at writing an essay on the fly, or do you always do your work weeks ahead of time?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Yeah you can't BS and essay if you get and A then you're just talented even if it only took 10 min. Which in college is usually impossible because you have soooo much research to do!
